                                Plight of the Birds

It was very late in the fall, and winter was soon approaching. A farmer was looking out of his living room window one evening, just before  dark  and as he viewed the  sky, he  could  see  that  a  fierce  storm  front  was pushing in.
As he stood there watching, he could see  a  very  large  flock  of  birds  that were beginning to gather near  one  of  his large barns.   He  turned and said to his wife,"I can see that this is going to be a very bad storm we should prepare for it."   So the farmer and his wife got out extra blankets  in case they would need them.  They brought in extra firewood  for  their fireplace, filled all their lanterns and set  out  plenty  of  candles  in  case they would need those also. They closed all the shutters  on  the  windows, all except for the one that the farmer was looking out of,  for he was  very concerned about those birds gathering near  his  barn  having  no  shelter from this terrible storm approaching.
The farmer could not stop thinking about those little birds, so  he  went outside and went over to his large barn and opened the door  so  that  the little birds could go in.  Then  he  went  back  into  his  warm  safe  house but, he stayed by his window to keep watch on those prescious  little birds.
The sky darkened, the winds began to rage, the clouds thickened and the farmer watched as more and more birds  began  to  gather  near  his  barn. Now, there were hundreds and hundreds of little birds that  had  gathered. They were not flying inside the barn even  though  the  door  was  opened, they were all flying back and forth and in circles  not  knowing  where  to find the door to escape from the storm.
As he continued to watch, still  more  little  birds  gathered, and  all  the while the winds and rage from the storm were building even stronger than they were before.  The birds were still flying back and forth and in circles not seeing the open door and not knowing where to find shelter  from  the storm.
Suddenly, the wind grew much stronger, then very cold rains mixed with sleet came pouring down and the farmer continued to watch  as  the  little birds became frenzied and  began to  fly  repeatedly  into  the  wall  of  his barn. By now, dozens and dozens of these little birds  had  dropped  to  the ground dead.
Tears began rolling down the farmers  face  as  he  watched  those  little helpless birds, flying frantically into his  barn  wall,  then  falling  to  the ground dead.  He put on his coat and his boots.  Then he told his wife, "I have to try to help those poor little birds, they don't know where the  barn door is, and they are killing themselves flying  into  the  barn  wall  where there is no opening for them to go in where there is  safety."  "There  are already dozens and dozens that are dead out there."
The farmer took a large lantern and ran out toward his barn door. With tears still running down his face, he waved his lantern back and forth,  in hopes the  birds would see his light and that they would see he was trying to help them find shelter.  He yelled to the birds as he  waved  his  lantern in hopes they could hear him over the terrible noise of the storm.
Please,  he cried out, come into my barn where you will be safe, but the birds did not hear the farmer. By now there were hundreds and hundreds of those little birds laying on the ground dead, and the farmer  continued
wave his lantern and to yell, "Please see my light and  follow  me,  I  will help you find safety from this storm, please come follow me  through  the door into my large barn."
The birds were still flying back a forth and in circles and flying into his barn wall by the dozens, and killing themselves. They did  not  notice  his lantern, they did not hear or understand what the farmer was trying to do for them.
By now, the farmer became totally exhaused and was heartbroken to see what was happening to those poor little helpless birds. He fell to his knees in the doorway of his barn and cried out," Oh, Father God, if only I could become one of those little birds for just a  short  time, then  they  wouldn't have to die like this, then I could help them see my light, then I could help them understand, then I could lead them into my barn where there is safety from this terrible storm, then I could help save them  from  flyng  into  the   barn wall and killing themselves."
                                          ~~Author Unknown~~
We are as those poor helpless birds, and the rage and winds of the storms are the attacks on us  from  satan,  whose  only  goal  is  to  kill,  rob,  and destroy us, taking as many to face the judgement for sin with  him   as  he can. We worry and  fear and try to fight  through  his  attacks  alone  and blinded by sin, which  keeps  us  from  seeing, hearing and understanding that without the help of  Jesus we cannot find the door to  God's  free gift of salvation, and again because of our lack of  understanding, we can not  see that Jesus is way,the only open door to salvation, and without hearing, or receiving Him, we will end up hitting the wall of  sin that kills us.
"For the wages of all sin is eternal death."
Our Heavenly Father does love us.  He cares so much  that  he  sent  his own Son to become one of us for a short time, to help us see,  and  to  hear, and to understand, and to lead us into His place of safety, that will save us from the attacks from satan, and certain death because of sin.
Won't you please see, hear and understand the reason Jesus came, and receive Him as your Lord and Savior?
